While Teachers Report Higher Satisfaction In Overall Preparation, Opinions Of Praxis 2 Test Drop Significantly
Recent Survey Reveals State-Wide Dissatisfaction As A Means Of Qualifying Teaching Performance

BEAVERTON, OR, November 07, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- While global controversy has surrounded standardized testing as a means of testing potential student performance in college, a recent US survey has revealed that teachers share the same sentiment towards the Praxis 2 test.

According to the MetLife Survery of the American Teacher - who compared statistics collected in 2008 to those collected in 1984 - teachers have reported an overall satisfaction in how well they're prepared to tackle teacher certification tests, thanks to effective Praxis 2 test practice and study guides. However, the opinion of the Praxis 2 test has lowered considerably since the introduction of the standardized test.

"Praxis 2 Test Can't Test The Passion For Teaching"

"It's no wonder that many teachers feel frustrated with the Praxis 2 exam on principle," says educational researcher Dr. Patrick O'Hara. "While more future teachers feel as though they're probably equipped to deal with the demands of the test, many feel that a standardized test simply can't capture the enthusiasm, creativity and empathy that's so vital in maintaining a successful and healthy environment in the classroom. In other words, the Praxis 2 test can't test the passion for teaching."

Many potential teachers agree with Dr. O'Hara's statement. More students are flocking to teacher forums to voice their discontent over the idea of standardized testing as a means to gaining teacher certification.

"It's ridiculous," one anonymous poster writes on A to Z Teacher Stuff, a forum devoted exclusively to educators and those interested in become a teacher. "Why should I have my teacher certification denied to me simply because I'm a bad tester?"

Holistic Praxis 2 Test Practice = More Effective Preparation

Tim Knight, a Praxis 2 test coach with Teaching Solutions, believes that his company has the answers that future teachers are looking for.

"While many teachers report overall satisfaction in Praxis 2 study, comments like the one on A to Z Teacher Stuff reveal that many people simply aren't prepared as they can be," says Knight. "After all, great preparation involves so much more than using a Praxis 2 study guide and memorizing key theories. You need to be prepared mentally, emotionally and evenly physically for the Praxis 2 test day to get the kind of score that will land you job offers."

It's certainly encouraging news for future teachers who might feel left behind by standardized testing.
