SUNY Ulster Online Learning Courses Selected as Models for SUNY Learning Network
Four online courses at SUNY Ulster have been selected as best practice models for the SUNY Learning Network (SLN) that includes online courses, degree programs and certificates offered by accredited State University of New York campuses statewide.

STONE RIDGE, NY, July 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The courses and instructors that have been selected to have their courses showcased for all SUNY online instructors are: Professor Shirley Birmingham, who teaches Introduction to Exceptional Children; Professor Jim Hobbs, General Psychology; Professor William Sheldon, Introduction to Microeconomics; and Professor Sean Nixon, History of 20th Century Design.
"Online learning is the wave of the future and SUNY Ulster is a leader in this new modality of learning that is teaching the 21st Century student with 21st Century tools," said Hope Windle, SUNY Ulster Instructional Designer.
The SUNY Ulster instructors use a variety of tools and resources including the Internet, interactive video technology and sharing presentations online to engage students, and encourage them to work in teams and interact with their instructors and each other.
"Online learning accommodates people's lives," Windle said. "These courses are incredibly rich. The presence of the faculty is felt and these instructors create an interactive, online learning community."
