Phillip T. Major Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
Phillip T. Major's responsibilities at Palm Beach University include Information Technology (IT) operations, student identification card services, printing and mail services along with media services, video content and production support

WEST PALM BEACH, FL, June 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phillip T. Major, Associate Vice President of Campus Information Services for Palm Beach Atlantic University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in administrative operations.

A native Floridian, Phillip was born in Tampa and raised in West Palm Beach. He graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School where he was class president for four consecutive years. As a high school student he was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students and Outstanding Teenagers of America.

Phillip is a graduate of the University of Florida (UF). While matriculating there, he twice received UF presidential recognition for outstanding leadership, was listed in Outstanding Young Men of America, as well as Who's Who Among American College Students. His visionary leadership led to induction into the University's leadership honorary, Savant. Additionally, he was inducted into the University's Student Leader Hall of Fame.

Phillip left post-graduate studies at UF to pursue a career with IBM. During his 25 year tenure at IBM, he excelled in numerous assignments, such as; Systems Engineer, Sales Specialist, Consultant and IBM Certified Professional. While at IBM, Phillip received numerous accolades. Among them were 10 Performance Excellence Awards recognizing top performers nationwide and the IBM Golden Circle. The Golden Circle recognizes the top 3% of IBM employees worldwide for outstanding contributions to the company.

In 2007, Phillip joined the staff at Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) in West Palm Beach, FL. He was hired as Assistant Vice President for Technology Services. He was responsible for managing and coordinating all campus Information Technology (IT) operations. During that time, Phillip received the University President Cabinet's recognition for outstanding service and commitment to excellence. Since joining PBA, he has been promoted to Associate Vice President for Technology Services. In addition to IT, his responsibilities have grown to include student identification card services, printing and mail services along with media services (campus event & classroom audio visual (a/v) support, as well as, video content and production support). In 2009, Phillip was named Palm Beach Atlantic University's Employee of the Year.

Phillip attends Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where he has been a Trustee and active in the Men's Ministry. In 2010 he was recognized by Tabernacle for his outstanding work in higher education. He currently serves as an Advisory Board member for PBA's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization. He has been also been active as an instructor with Junior Achievement, canvasser for the United Way, Sunfest Juried Art Committee Vice Chairman and a judge for the University of Miami - Florida International University, Golden Drum Scholarship.

Phillip is married to Shairette. They are the proud parents of one daughter, Phisha, who is a junior at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, FL. He is the son of Phillip and Ollie Major, Sr.
